I’m Ronald, a creative professional with a background in arts and a passion for design, technology and biology.

I started (and quit) the visual arts program at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Utrecht. After my studies, I moved to Barcelona, where I worked and studied at Fab Lab Barcelona, exploring permaculture, agroforestry, and mycology while learning product design, programming, prototyping and advanced digital fabrication.

These days, I wear many hats. As a freelance developer, I co-run design studio Brro, where we create custom WordPress websites and are now developing a booking platform for education. I have a longterm side project called PSBR, focusing on circular mushroom products. Beyond that, I work with my girlfriend and her business partner grow Heber Mata, their architecture and design firm, by supporting their online presence, comms and admin.

On the personal side, I love being out with my dogs, I’m a passionate drummer, and I love mountain hiking. And since 2025 I’m also the proud father of a beautiful baby! With that in mind, I’m working toward a balanced, remote-work lifestyle that lets me stay flexible and keeps me focused on the things that matter most to me.

2020 2025

This year was mainly about having a baby, becoming a father, and figuring out a completely new management of my energy. Our son Ruben is a beautiful addition to my life, and besides the sleep deprivation it does not even feel like a big change. With Brro, our main focus was on completing a long running project: a booking platform for educational content for the townhall of Haarlem. We decided to roll continue developing our booking platform, which will hopefully become our main focus in the next few years.

The collaboration with BrrBrr is set in stone; we started a web design and development studio Brro! We created a beautiful project for The World of Walking. PSBR is on the verge of deciding whether to stop or continue; next year, the outcome of a grant application for compostable plastic will make the decision.

This year is a year of ambition. A restart for Paddenstoelenboer, setting up an architecture studio with Barbara de la Mata and Miguel Muñoz Heber, and discovering where the collaboration with BrrBrr can go for beautiful new website projects!

Moved from Scheveningen to Breda. Implemented a complete rebranding of Paddenstoelenboer and developed a brand new growing kit. Additionally, I made preparations to bring compostable plastic for oyster mushroom farms to the market. In 2022, I invested heavily in my skills as a website developer and started a permanent collaboration with BrrBrr.

For Paddenstoelenboer, I designed an Oyster mushroom growing kit and started researching compostable plastic. My webshop paddenstoelenboer.nl went live, and I started producing and selling the growing kits. I also made several websites for BrrBrr and discovered that I enjoy it and am good at it.

Introduction and first major project with BrrBrr (compostier.nl), and a relaunch of what is now ‘PSBR | Paddenstoelenboer’. At the start of the Corona pandemic, Barbara and I moved to Scheveningen, where we spent €1200 on our twice-a-week pizza at O Sole Mio, oh so delicious!
